Configure Cisco ATA-186/188 to work with Midwest SIP account
You must first have a Midwest SIP username and password to continue.

The difference between the Cisco 186 and the 188 model is that the 188 has one extra Ethernet switch port for a laptop connection for example.
Connect the device to power, connect the ethernet port to your switch/router and connect a phone to the rj11 port. Once the red light stops flashing, the device has received a local dhcp ip address. If this fails, you may need to bring the device back to default settings.
How to bring the cisco ata back to default settings:
pick up the handset and press the red button, dial FACTRESET#, press * to save default settings. The unit will reboot and should by default, get a DHCP ip address.
Now pick up the phone and press the red button, dial 21# and write down the ip address read over the phone.
Place this ip address in your browser. For example: http://(ip address given)/dev
This will bring up the configuration pages.
Basic settings you need to enter:
SIP parameters:
UID0 = (Midwest SIP username)
PWD0 = (Midwest SIP password)
DisplayName0 = (Midwest SIP username)
LoginID0 = (Midwest SIP username)
SIPRegOn = 1
Proxy = sip.midwestsip.com
Click apply and after the device reboots you should get dialtone from the handset connected to the rj11 port.
